Trader Joe’s recalled their hummus, so you might want to make sure you don’t have any left

Watch out for that hummus, everyone. In some sad, sad grocery news, Trader Joe’s  recalled their hummus and are telling people to throw out 6-ounce tubs of Mediterranean Hummus or White Bean and Basil Hummus with use-by dates of December 15, 2016 because they ‘have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria.

The Trader Joe’s recall affects hummus sold in 30 states with a plant-identification code that reads “C” next to the use-by date. Both types were manufactured by Bakkavor Foods, where bacteria was found on some equipment. Thankfully no one has become sick yet. Trader Joe’s will give you a full refund if you bring the tub back to the store.

Products with the plant identification code “J” were produced in a different facility and aren’t affected. According to the release, the Trader Joe’s  Mediterranean Hummus Snack Pack with Pita Chips (SKU #97136) products are also not part of the recall, so go ahead and snack away if you have those. This recall comes after Sabra just issued a recall for a lot of hummus, too. Maybe it’s for the best if you just stick to ranch or another dip to eat your carrots or pita bread with

Listeria is not to be messed around with! It can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in in young people, the elderly and anyone with a weakened immune system.
