One of your fave Trader Joe’s snacks is getting recalled
Today in “NOOOOOO!”, it’s time to check your pantry for cashews you’ve recently bought from Trader Joe’s – specifically, the “Trader Joe’s Raw Cashew Pieces” in a 16-oz. bag, labeled with barcode number 00505154 and “BEST BEFORE 07.17.2016TF4” – and toss them in the trash or bring them back for a refund, because they could be contaminated with salmonella. Eep!
“Out of an abundance of caution, all lots of Trader Joe’s Raw Cashew Pieces have been removed from store shelves and their sale has been suspended while we investigate this matter,” a statement from Trader Joe’s read.
The popular grocery chain has issued a recall in Oregon and Washington, but the cashews were also distributed to stores in 28 other states across the country and Washington, D.C., so it’s better to safe than sorry, even though no illnesses have actually been reported as of yet.
This is the second time the company has recalled raw nuts within the past year. In March, bags of raw walnuts were recalled for the same reason: possible salmonella contamination. And just last month, Trader Joe’s issued a recall of its Triple Ginger Brew amid reports of unopened bottles bursting. We hope this is the last of contamination concerns from the TJ’s raw-nut department, and that we never hear of a Speculoos Cookie Butter recall (even writing that makes me shudder).
