Tracy Morgan’s return to ‘SNL’ was like a ’30 Rock’ reunion

Tracy Morgan hosted Saturday Night Live last night, and we were anticipating lost of feels. It was Morgan’s first planned television appearance since being involved in a car crash in the summer of 2014. He made a surprise stop at the Emmys this past September, and everyone in the audience and watching at home cried. So now, Morgan returning to his old stomping grounds of SNL to make us giggle and laugh? Oh yeah, we had some tissues ready. What we weren’t ready for was a great, big 30 Rock reunion that brought Morgan back together Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin.

Morgan explained in his monologue that after his crash, he received an outpouring of love and support from his comedy family. Then he joked that during a 30 Rock episode back in 2012, the TV show actually predicted this future. And if you need a quick 30 Rock refresher as if you don’t watch at least one episode a day, Morgan played character “Tracy Jordan” who was basically just Tracy Morgan on a new NBC show from Tina Fey Liz Lemon.

In the SNL sketch, we’ve got the return of Jack Donaghy, the Vice President of East Coast Television and Microwave Oven Programming. He’s talking to his little co-worker/little-brother Liz (Fey); the star of TGS with Tracy Jordan, Jenna Maroney (Jane Krakowski); and immortal NBC Page, Kenneth (Jack McBrayer). After a near-death experience with a jellyfish, the group is upset to hear that Tracy might not make it. But surprise, Nerds! He’s OK. LL delivers a heartfelt speech about how everyone is so happy that Tracy is back to work and making everyone laugh. Even tough the touching moment is cut short by a dancing Smash graphic.

Though it’s all for laughs, the sketch is incredibly touching and we’re all so happy that Morgan is finally back to work. Check it out below!
