Tracee Ellis Ross is putting her Golden Globe award to good use — in the kitchen

We all stood up and cheered this January when Tracee Ellis Ross won her Golden Globe. Tracee is hilarious and pitch perfect as Bow on Black-ish. She also made history that night. She was the first black actress to win the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a TV series, comedy or musical, since 1983.

It’s a big deal to win a Golden Globe period. Even more so an award with that much history. So the question becomes what do you do with a momentous trophy like that?

Well, as it turns out, Tracee Ellis Ross actually has some pretty practical uses for her Golden Globe

For example, it can be used as a kitchen tool. As Tracee told People:

“It is very functional, the award. I have pounded chicken with it. I did some tenderizing.

Okay, it’s a little unclear whether or not the actress is joking here. She could DEFINITELY be joking. She could also be dead serious. We’re not a hundred percent certain of her tone. But what we are clear on is that Tracee Ellis Ross has some pretty solid ideas re: what to do with her Globe.

“It’s also a wonderful paperweight, she said. “You can probably hold down more than paper. It’s a great book holder too. I need another one for the other side of the books, though.

Again, we know she’s probbbbbably joking here. But still, these are good ideas for Golden Globe uses! What’s the alternative? Just having it hang out on the mantle? Blech, boring.

Ross is making a point of being super-chill when it comes to her Globe. No fussiness from this lady. She shared the following anecdote with People regarding her on-screen son in Black-ish:

“That first day was actually really fun because I brought [the award] with me everywhere and then Miles [Brown] hadn’t seen it yet because we didn’t have any scenes together, and I was, like, ‘Well, go get it from my dressing room.’ And he’s like, ‘I can go get it?’ And I said, ‘Yeah, you can go get it, but don’t drop it.’ And apparently from my dressing room to getting to stage, he had like many a photoshoot. Because I’ve seen many different photos of him with [the award].

May we all win a fancy award one day, and may we all be this freaking chill about it.

Here’s to Tracee Ellis Ross, an inspiration to us all.
