So, ‘Toy Story 4’ will basically be a romance
Toy Story 4 is coming, and we are READY. Unlike Andy, we haven’t yet packed up our Sheriff Woody and Buzz Lightyear dolls.
When the sequel (to the sequel to the sequel) was first announced, it sounded like it was going to be in the vein of a romantic comedy, and we were like “SOUNDS GOOD!” Now, that news has been confirmed, and we know just WHO the story’s going to focus on.
Woody, and his lady friend, Bo Peep.
You might be thinking, “What, we’ve already seen Woody romance Bo Peep,” but we actually haven’t. The two had a few flirtatious moments in Toy Story, and the same happened in Toy Story 2. We didn’t see her at ALL during Toy Story 3, and I just always assumed that was because she was either still hanging out in Molly’s room (Andy’s little sister) or she had been sold at a yard sale and was off at a new home. It would make sense if Molly grew up, and grew out of her nursery rhyme room.
All that aside, though, she’s coming back. How? Only the people at Pixar know that. Disney’s Chief Creative Officer, John Lasseter, just revealed that she and Woody will play a big part in Toy Story 4. He explained that, the movie’s “a love story with Woody and — and this is news — Bo Peep.”
Lasseter also mentioned that he’s very excited about this new movie. “At Pixar and at Disney, we only make sequels if we come up with a story that’s as good or better than the original,” Lasseter continued. “That’s our rule. We don’t do things just to print money.” So yes, there’s a high possibility that Toy Story 4 could be better than both 1, 2 AND 3.
Toy Story 3 ended with the toys going off to a new owner, Bonnie. Bo Peep wasn’t part of this group, so it’s not clear if the story will pick up after the events of the last movie, or if this is a prequel love story, set back in Andy’s room.
Whatever the story is, we’ve still got a ways to go before we see it. Toy Story 4 comes out Summer 2017. In the meantime, we can just gaze longingly at its newly released poster. It’s good to have these clouds back.
