Pinterest predicts next-level lashes, playful pixies, and face oils are going to be big in 2018
There’s no place like Pinterest. Whether we’re looking for shoe inspo, a new way to style our hair, or eye makeup recommendations, and more, it’s the place to be. Lucky for us, they’ve released its list of Pinterest 100: Top Trends for 2018, and we’re taking notes of all the looks that are going to be hot in the coming year.
The Pinterest beauty section is rapidly growing, as there was a 75% increase in Pins over a year. That’s huge! It’s clearly the place to check out the latest products, tips, and tutorials. Whether you want to switch up your everyday look or are trying to find some inspiration for an upcoming special occasion, you just can’t go wrong with Pinterest. Let’s take a look at what their list had to say.
Here are the top beauty trends to try in 2018, according to Pinterest.
1Next-level Lashes
Call it the Kardashian effect, but big, lush lashes are still big in the beauty world. While falsies are great for special occasions, there’s nothing like having naturally long and full lashes to put some pep in your step. LashFood’s Phyto Medic Eyelash Enhancer, $78, is a powerful lash enhancing serum that’s a great alternative to other serums because it’s free of harmful drugs and toxic chemicals that could have negative side effects. It’s the best way to wake up with Disney princess lashes.
2Oils and Oil Cleansing
Everyone needs their own collection, whether they use it for softer skin, smoother hair, or to wash off their makeup. Drunk Elephant’s Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil, $72, leaves your skin feeling hydrated and ultra-soft. It’s worth the investment. The Pinterest Saves for cleansing oil went up over 500% this year, and for good reason. It’s one of the best ways to gently wash your skin while infusing it with antioxidants, vitamins, and hydration. One Love Organics Vitamin B Enzyme Cleansing Oil, $42, is a luxurious cleanser that will leave your skin feeling delicious.
3Diverse Shade Ranges
Thanks to the extensive shade range from Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation, $34, beauty lovers have made a concerted push to make their favorite brands create more inclusive shade ranges. Saves for complexion matching rose over 300%. This is a trend that needs to continue into 2018 and beyond.
4Playful Pixies
While the lob has reigned supreme for a couple of years now, it looks like hair enthusiasts are taking it to the extremes in 2018, chopping off their hair in favor of gorgeous gamine looks a lá Kate Hudson. It’s a fetching, daring look that inspires confidence, and we can’t wait to see our faves rocking this look in the coming year.
5Long, Luscious Locks
On the other hand, many are itching to grow their hair out after years of mid-length styles. With the Meghan Markle-effect beginning to take place, her long, luxurious hair is an inspiration to those who want to grow their hair out. Prepare to see plenty of magnificent manes on the rise in the coming year.
6Graphic Nails
Nail art has been all over the place in the past few years, but expect to see an abundance of geometric and negative space manis in a salon near you. It’s a fun and creative way to show a bit of personality without being too flashy. You can take these nails from work to the club and feel glam as ever. A nail kit like Deborah Lippman’s Crystal Prism Nail Polish Set, $35, might be just the thing to get you started on your nail journey.
7Bright Eye
Neon underliner, bold inner shadow, and lustrous lids are headed our way. You can add a pop of color with a colorful gel liner like Marc Jacobs Fineliner Ultra-Skinny Gel Liner, $24, as you dip your toes into the bright eye waters. It’s a great way to add a flash of personality and catch everyone’s attention. Who doesn’t want a little flair on their face?
8Facial Rollers
Skin is in and facial rollers are all the rage right now in the skincare community. Whether you’re looking to prevent wrinkles, de-puff tired eyes, increase circulation, or treat acne, there’s something for everyone. Ice, derma, jade, and quartz rollers are now available pretty much everywhere. The Skin Gym Amethyst Facial Roller, $42, works to reduce puffiness, decrease the appearance of wrinkles, and rejuvenates your skin.
9All-In-One Kits
Even the most dedicated of beauty junkies will admit to being overwhelmed by the sheer amount of choices in the makeup aisle. Curated kits are a great introduction to new brands and make it possible to stock up on products you otherwise wouldn’t. We’re gaga over the Kat Von D Beauty Lolita Obsession Collector’s Kit, $105, featuring every single Lolita-themed product in the KVDB world. It’s the most affordable way to get your hands on so many cult-fave products at once.
10Lip Tints
Matte’s been all the rage for quite some time, but it looks like 2018 will usher in the age of the lip tint. It’s an easy and affordable way to add a pop of color to your lips that’s a bit more natural. All our fave brands have their own version, and Glossier was one of the first to bring this bitten-lip look back in style with their Gen G Sheer Matte Lipsticks, $18.[/listheader]
11Wet Hair Look
Soft waves are headed out and slicked back styles harkening to the ’80s are on their way back. These looks dominated the runways at the last fashion week and on the red carpet this season. It is a lot more versatile than you would think. Whether you prefer a full on wet look or a simple, sleek slicked-back ponytail, now’s the time.
Which of these pop out to you? Did you see these trends coming? It’ll be interesting to see which truly reign supreme and stick around in the coming new year!
