The Top 10 Funniest Craigslist Ads
When we think about Craigslist, we probably all have mixed emotions. Sure, some of us have found some great deals, and maybe a few good roommates, friends, and jobs while using the site. Others may be recoiling in fear, especially if they’ve made the mistake of watching the Lifetime Original “Craigslist Killer” movie. Or, they’ve been scammed. They’ve been scammed hard. Regardless of your personal relationship with the site, you have to admit that every once in awhile, a funny ad makes the rounds that help you remember that, hey: At least a few of its users have a decent sense of humor.
Here are a few other Craigslist gems that have made us laugh through the years.
Listen. We’ve all been there. It seems like a good idea at the time, and then – well – it’s just a waste of space.
This Albany Craigslister was honest, and was also selling the machine in favor of having a pizza party, and buying a desk in its place for “scholarly betterment”. Let’s hope someone saved the day, and actually put this machine to good use.
2. The Most Uncomfortable Chair
With a sell like that, how can you say no? Hopefully some alien with a flat or square-ish lumbar found this listing, and finally found a piece of furniture they could be comfortable with. My favorite part of all? When the chair is described as a weapon.
This post, from 2008, was taken down too soon, so all we have left are it’s timeless words. Here’s what it said: “I need to inject some excitement into my daily routine through my arm before its too late. I need a challenge, something to get the adrenaline pumping again. An addiction would be nice, but, in short, I need a nemesis. I’m willing to pay $350 up front for you services as an arch enemy over the next six months. Nothing crazy. Steal my parking space, knock my coffee over, trip me when Im running to catch the BART and occasionaly whisper in my ear, “Ahha, we meet again”. That kind of thing. Just keep me on my toes. Complacency will be the death of me.” The best part? It’s a 6 month gig, but a quality nemesis might get an extension. British accent preferred.
First, kudos to this person for not only giving their cat a birthday party, but for getting their cat to wear a party hat long enough for a picture to be taken.
A very happy belated birthday to Ambrosia. I hope your birthday was just magical.
The inventor of the one-of-a-kind Rice Robot was giving this away. For all of the times when you’ve been like, “If only I could make a cup of white rice through twitter.” You know. The zero times you maybe thought that was a good idea.
I have to give this person credit, and acknowledge this as a joke because he’s obviously a fan of “Hyperbole and a Half“. Or at least, a fan of memes. He knew someone would get a good laugh out of this.
Losing a ham is a rough. Thankfully, a resident of Asheville spotted the ham, and reported its condition to its owner, who was probably very worried.
“It’s in worse shape than it was when I saw it last night, perhaps due to the rain or a random vagrant gnawing on it. The browned fat on the outside isn’t so deliciously crispy looking this morning. It’s a bone-in ham, not sure it’s obvious from the photo, and it’s been eaten on some, but there’s definitely some serious meat left on it. Looks like it was pretty tasty in its day.”
After trying to lure in a new roommate with the tactics of saying the household was laid back and easy to please, this Craigslist poster ran into some rough situations. So he figured that perhaps an advertisement for someone completely bonkers would yield better results.
“To the person who flagged the first post for removal at 3am last night… you’re just the type of person I’m looking for! E-mail me and set up a viewing today!” they said in an edit.
Purchasing a Snuggie might raise a few eyebrows from the people who love you — but what would they think of a used Snuggie? Sure, something unthinkable might have happened in it. But that’s what the washing machine is for, right? Just try to enjoy that Snuggie with some Netflix and Doritos, free of any thoughts about the person who had it first.
It’s simple. It’s easy. And it’s a great way to make 2 bucks. The real problem here is, the person who posted the ad didn’t specify whether or not they like pulp.
Here at HelloGiggles, we’ve highlighted bad Photoshop jobs a bunch. Let’s talk about awesome Photoshop work.
These Craigslist posters from Rockford decided to make their pretty average, floral-printed couch absolutely wonderful. Being that they were selling it for just a buck (and included the original picture), I have to say – this is genius.
