The full-length ‘Tomorrowland’ trailer is out, and it is AWESOME!
It’s a good day for fans of futurist innovation! We got details on the Apple Watch, we got the run down on the new Halo 5 controllers, and maybe most exciting of all, we got the FULL-length trailer for Disney’s upcoming live-action epic, Tomorrowland!
You need to watch it for yourself before we can go on. Here it is. Watch. We’ll wait.
Looks… incredible, right? Following the trailer’s release co-writer/director Brad Bird (the action genius behind The Incredibles and Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol) and co-writer David Lindel did a Facebook Q&A.
I was hoping Brad would look into the future and answer some of my own, personal Disney/Pixar-related burning questions, like: In the future, do I ever score higher than 100,000 on Buzz Lightyear’s Astro Blasters? And, does my future husband propose to me on top of Space Mountain, because that’s definitely the dream?
But, turns out, none of my personal burning questions were answered. Also not answered? Anything at all that would be a spoiler for Tomorrowland. Brad and David are keeping their lips sealed about this one. But we do know that they’ve made a movie that goes beyond just being a theme park marketing tool. Yes, Tomorrowland is a section of both Disneyland and Disney World, but the movie is so much more.
Brad and David hinted that the movie is “in the spirit” of what Walt Disney originally envisioned for EPCOT, and is “inspired by how the future used to be seen in contrast to how it’s seen today.”
When discussing the audition process to cast the lead character, Casey Newton, Brad and David raved that Britt Robertson“most embodied what we were looking for — a hopefulness and optimism that felt fresh without being corny.”
But I digress, back to Tomorrowland! While most of plot remains mysterious, any film that boasts a cast like this — George Clooney, Hugh Laurie, Raffey Cassidy, Tim McGraw, Judy Greer, Kathryn Hahn, Keegan-Michael Key and Thomas Robinson — is guaranteed to be a great time.
Disney also released these amazing new images from the movie:
Mark your calendars for May 22, 2015, when the movie hits theaters, and gather your most STEM-loving friends for this one.
