Say hai to first trailer for Tommy Wiseau’s next movie — and yes, it’s totally bonkers
If you miss Johnny and Mark in your life, get ready, because Tommy Wiseau and Greg Sestero are teaming up again to bring us another piece of cinematic magic. While their cult classic film The Room is getting a lot more attention thanks to The Disaster Artist, Wiseau and Sestero aren’t ready to hang up filmmaking anytime soon. A trailer for their new film, Best F(r)iends is here, and it’s just as bizarre as you’d think it would be.
The movie was initially announced in 2016, and will be cut into two parts. As Tommy Wiseau’s character explains in the trailer, the story behind Best F(r)iends is basically a tale as old as time, “I have a good story for you, a familiar story. One guy meet another in a big city. They have dream, but something change. Greed, hatred, and jealousy. You understand the words?”
We might understand the words, but it still doesn’t give us a ton to go on when it comes to what Wiseau craziness is in store in this new film. The film does seem to have a bit of a heavier tone than The Room, with a bit more violence, an ATM hidden away in a shed, and for some reason, a dead clown. As Sestero explained to Entertainment Weekly, Best F(r)iends is basically like, “a Hitchcock film setting starring Tommy.” That statement both intrigues us and slightly terrifies us. But will there be football?

While the actual filmmaking and cinematography seem to be quite the step up from The Room, Best F(r)iends looks like the same kind of over-the-top, outrageous story that we’ve come to expect from Wiseau and Sestero. Luckily, we don’t have to wait too long to go on this new adventure with some of our favorite, eccentric filmmakers. Vol. I of the film will release in about 600 select theaters on March 30 and April 2, and Vol. II hits select theaters on June 1 and June 4. We can’t wait to see what bonkers adventures await us when Best F(r)iends hits theaters!
