Tom Hardy has the perfect response to a reporter’s sexist question

Tom Hardy, who plays the titular character in Mad Max: Fury Road, is currently on the press junket for the smash hit film. And during a press conference yesterday, he was asked one very uncool question by a Toronto journalist. But have no fear: Tom knew just how to shut down a little casual sexism.

As we’ve discussed here at HelloGigglesFury Road is a pretty amazing feminist film. In it, Max helps a group of escaped slave women find safety in a post-apocalyptic nightmare world, but it’s really the female characters who serve as standout heroes and who’ve helped land the film some serious rave reviews.

So when Toronto Star journalist Peter Howell asked an off-color question of Tom at a recent press conference, you could practically hear a pin drop.

“As you were reading the script,” Howell asked the actor, “Did you ever think, ‘Why are all these women in here? I thought this was supposed to be a man’s movie!’”

Are you wincing? I’m wincing. Come on, Peter. Are you serious?

So how did Tom respond? Only in the most perfect way possible.

“No…Not for one minute,” he says. And then he punctuates his response with an amazing WTF face.

See for yourself.

YES! That face! Tom does not have time for your casual sexism, thank you very much.

You can watch the whole conference here, with Tom’s amazing moment starting at 9:44. Get ready to cheer!
