Tom Hardy as the next James Bond? We are IN
We’re still a few months away from the release of the next James Bond movie, Spectre, but that doesn’t mean we can’t start looking to the future of James Bond. Eventually, like all the other Bonds before him, current 007 Daniel Craig will step away from the role, only to be replaced by someone else. That’s not a bad thing; it’s simply a thing that has kept Bond alive for the last 50 years. And when it happens, who should put on the suit and jump behind the wheel of the Aston Martin? How about, Tom Hardy?
BoyleSports, an online betting site based in Ireland, recently asked who should take over the role when Craig leaves. According to the polls, “Tom Hardy… is now 4/1 from 6/1 to take over from Daniel Craig.” Yeah, we dig that.
Hardy would make a pretty amazing Bond, that is, if he can fit it into his jam-packed schedule. He’s one of the most in demand actors right now, and not just for action movies. He’d also bring a brand new side to Bond that we’ve never seen before; not so much suave and debonair like Craig and Pierce Brosnan before him, but a more rough, rugged, and tattooed bond. And we’re really digging that idea.
If Hardy’s unavailable to play the Bond role of our dreams, BoyleSports has also shared with us other contenders for the role. Idris Elba sits tied at number two (with Damian Lewis), and his name has actually been thrown around A LOT for Bond – and with good reason. He’d make an AWESOME 007. Even Mindy Kaling wants Elba to play Bond.
Other actors who BoyleSports heard about were Henry Cavill and Orlando Bloom. We’d be fine with any one of the actors on the list taking up the role, and if there’s an option to have ALL OF THEM, we choose that. But this is all still merely speculation and by no means a binding Bond contract.
In the meantime, someone get these guys a martini — shaken, not stirred.
