Tom Hanks’ son Chet announces he is a father in an open and honest Instagram post

Tom Hanks is a granddad yet again! His son, Chet Hanks just announced that he is a father in an open and honest Instagram post and we’re very proud of him.

Hanks is officially one proud father of a baby girl and he’s ready to share it with the world, or at least with his Instagram followers.

On Wednesday, the 26-year-old son of the Sully actor and his wife, Rita Wilson, revealed that he is in fact a father and explained his reasoning of keeping the big news hidden from the media.

“I know I’ve not been active on the ‘Gram lately, because I’ve been figuring out my life, which is what we’re all doing, and social media’s all bulls**t anyway,” Hanks began his intense Instagram video.

He continued to talk to his followers about life and then confirmed the news of his daughter’s birth, saying she is what inspired him to kick his drug habit once and for all, which is great news.

“I want to share something today because it’s about to be shared anyway in the press, which is the fact that I have a daughter,” Hanks said.

"I do have a daughter, she's the best thing that’s ever happened to me, she's the reason why I turned my life around and got sober," he continued. "I've been sober — for over a year and a half — from everything."

Although Hanks is in the limelight himself as the son of Tom and Rita, he explained that his daughter will not be featured on his social media accounts, even though he’s back on Instagram himself.

"She's not something to be posted," Hanks said. "She's something that I love, that's changed my life but the fact is she's about to be shared with everybody so I wanted you to hear it from me."

“It hasn’t been easy making all my mistakes in public but I’m figuring it out. I’m doing the best that I can,” he concluded.
