Meryl Streep yelling “Toy Story” lines at Tom Hanks is truly a gift

Meryl Streep is one of the most successful actors in Hollywood today. Her roles are iconic, and she can play just about any part that a director can throw at her. But with all of the roles she’s played, could she manage to recreate Tom Hank’s iconic and legendary performance as Woody from Toy Story? The world needed to know, and thankfully she did just that: Oscar-winner Meryl Streep performer some of Tom Hank’s best lines, and we’re all winners here.

Hanks and Streep stopped by  The Ellen DeGeneres Show their latest together, The Post to promote , and we’ve finally got to a taste of how Streep would have played the iconic cowboy doll. Her performance was pretty spot on, and delightfully entailed a great deal of, well, screaming “YOU ARE A TOY”  in Tom Hanks’ face in a manner that would convince even the most stubborn of toys of their true identity.

Of course, these are some of the best actors in the country, so Ellen didn’t just limit this exercise to one performance. No, Streep also performed the famous “life is like a box of chocolates” line from Forrest Gump, and Hanks even tried to recreate some of Streep’s most iconic roles.

He first tried his hand at recreating Miranda Priestly in The Devil Wears Prada, and then donned a wig to channel Margaret Thatcher in The Iron Lady. While Streep’s Woody performance definitely was the star of the show, we’ve gotta admit that Hanks managed to pull off that Miranda Priestly attitude pretty well.

The video is absolutely adorable, and it’s always fun to see two great actors appreciate each other’s work. Plus, watching Meryl Streep yell Toy Story lines at Tom Hanks while wearing a Woody cowboy hat is nothing short of a delight, and has absolutely helped us feel at ease with the craziness the world has brought us lately. Now if you’ll excuse us, we’re going to watch this adorable video a few hundred more times.
