Olympian Tom Daley and husband Dustin Lance Black announced their first child together, and so many congrats!
Whether you’re in a committed relationship, focusing on self-love, or anything in between, Valentine’s Day is a day to celebrate love in all its forms. And Olympic diver Tom Daley and his husband, screenwriter Dustin Lance Black, have already had a Valentine’s Day they’ll never forget. The couple took to social media today, February 14th, to reveal that they’re adding one more to their family.
Both Daley and Black shared photos of themselves holding up a picture of an ultrasound in an adorable announcement. They each captioned their posts with a same-sex family emoji to reveal that they are having their first child together.
"HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!" Daley wrote on Instagram.
"A very happy #ValentinesDay from ours to yours," Black tweeted.
Daley and Black were introduced in 2013 by a mutual friend. Daley came out publicly in a YouTube video that same year, announcing that he had started dating Black. The couple envisioned a life together from the start, and they spoke about their future plans, including their desire to have children, in a 2016 cover feature for Out magazine.
"We were so busy making all these plans — we both wanted to have children; we both wanted to build a home someday," Black said in the interview. "I draw, so I was sketching little plans for houses on cliffs overlooking oceans, while Tom watched over my shoulder — it was a very grown-up version of playing house. Marriage is the foundation to all of these other big plans we have. So we knew we were going to get engaged — it was just a matter of when, and who does it."

The pair announced their engagement in 2015, and in May 2017, they held their wedding at Bovey Castle Hotel in Devon, England.
Daley won bronze medals for diving in the 2012 and 2016 Olympics. Black, on the other hand, has also had his fair share of success. The screenwriter won an Oscar for Milk in 2009. He’s also behind When We Rise, a 2017 TV show about the LGBTQ rights movement.
Black and Daley’s apparent love for each other makes them serious couple goals, and we’re excited to watch their journey as parents. Congratulations to the couple on their first child!
