Tom Cruise Cut Suri Out of His Christmas Cards, Says Brooke Shields
Apparently, Brooke Shields really misses those $126 bundt coconut cakes that accompanied the cards.
Shields is hitting the interview circuit promoting her new Hulu documentary Pretty Baby and discussing all sorts of topics, including her friendship with the Top Gun actor.
The Suddenly Susan star told People she used to be on Cruise’s Christmas gift list, which included a photo card and a gourmet white chocolate coconut bundt cake. But one year, they stopped coming, and Shields says she has no idea “what happened.”
The former Calvin Klein model says she received the gift for 10 years, which for a time, included a photo card with Cruise, ex-wife Katie Holmes, 44, and daughter Suri, now 16.
“[At first] it was the three of them, and then soon it was no Suri and no Katie and just Tom,” shares the actress. “Then it went from just Tom for a while… and then the cake stopped.”
Shields believes it had nothing to do with their infamous 2005 feud over her decision to take postpartum medication. Cruise ranted about it at the time, calling her “irresponsible.”
The Lipstick Jungle star said they remained friends, and she even attended his wedding to Holmes in 2006. Six years later, Cruise and Holmes divorced. Beyond that, the actor seems to be estranged from his daughter. A source told Page Six that the Mission Impossible actor “no longer has a relationship” with his 16-year-old daughter and hasn’t seen her in a “very long time.” And earlier this month, The Daily Mail reported that Suri was preparing to apply to fashion colleges in New York City, but her famous dad won’t have any role in deciding where she goes.
Cruise also has two children with ex-wife Nicole Kidman, 55, and according to The Mirror, it’s a different story with Bella, 30, and Connor, 28. The Jack Reacher star reportedly has a relationship with his two eldest children because they “embrace” Scientology, the controversial religion Cruise has been involved with since the early 2000s.
Media reports have speculated that Tom cut ties with his youngest daughter because Holmes opted to keep her away from the church of Scientology. While the Scientology website says it doesn’t force its members to “disconnect” from family members who won’t comply with the organization, it does believe that it can cause a delay in one’s spiritual progress.
Meanwhile, Shields has a message for her friend. “I want to get back on that cake list,” she shares in People. “It’s the best cake. Tom, I need to be back on the cake list.”
