Tokyo had their first November snow in over 50 years and it’s a winter wonderland
There are two types of people when it comes to wintertime: Those who love it and those who hate it. Most of us won’t have to worry about the snow for another week or two, but Tokyo just saw their first November snow in over 50 years. We bet those Tokyo snow-lovers are thrilled with their early winter wonderland.
In case you didn’t know, Tokyo doesn’t get a lot of snow, but it’s not totally foreign to the city either.
On average, the city sees snow once a year, but it’s been a really long time since they’ve gotten snowfall this early in the year.
But despite causing problems like transportation delays, the snowfall is actually SO gorgeous and residents are kind of loving it.

According to Al Jazeera News, the last November snowfall for Tokyo was back in 1962. Residents were caught off guard since it was spring-like weather just two days before.
Reports from meteorologists at Weather.com are predicting that only about one inch of snow is expected in Tokyo. While that may not seem like a lot, it’s significant in Tokyo where they average about 4.3″ of snow a year.
In Tokyo, it’s super rare for snow to actually accumulate on the ground instead of just melting right away.
So snow angles and snow-covered trees are a first-time sight for many.
Temperatures are now rising to more typical numbers, so the snow will soon fade, but the joy of the season’s first snow will stick around for a while.
We can’t wait for our own first snow of the season.
