In not surprising news, T.J. Miller’s Comedy Central puppet series has been canceled

The fallout surrounding the new allegations against actor and comedian T.J. Miller continues, as Comedy Central has now announced that they have canceled his upcoming series. Though Comedy Central claims to have canceled Miller’s The Gorburger Show months ago, the network certainly chose an interesting day to share the news.

Reps announced the Miller-produced alien puppet talk show would be no more on Tuesday, December 19th, the same day The Daily Beast published an anonymous woman’s allegations of sexual assault against the former Silicon Valley star. The network says the decision had already been made, and Miller has denied the allegations.

Following the Daily Beast report, in which a woman referred to as “Sarah” says Miller sexually and physically assaulted her while they were dating briefly in college, two other women have come forward on Twitter to share disturbing encounters they say they’ve had with Miller.

Miller and his wife put out a joint statement saying the original accuser is “using the current climate to bandwagon and launch these false accusations.” Of the woman’s allegations, they said:

"The important movement to make women feel safe coming forward about legitimate claims against real known predators. We stand together and will not allow this person to take advantage of a serious movement toward gender equality by allowing her to use this moment to muddy the water with an unrelated personal agenda."

The Gorburger Show, a comedy series that started on Funny or Die before moving to TV, follows an alien, voiced by Miller, who’s taken over a Japanese morning show and holds its staff hostage while he interviews celebrities. Guests on the first season included Reggie Watts, Tig Notaro, and Drew Pinsky. One source told The Hollywood Reporter that the decision to end the show happened back in July. Miller also has a number of movies on their way to theaters soon, including How to Train Your Dragon 3, Ready Player One, and Deadpool 2.

As for accusations against Miller, the story is still unfolding.
