FYI: There’s a Tinder just for people with tattoos
In the latest news from ‘dating apps that look like Tinder, act like Tinder but aren’t exactly Tinder’, comes an app specifically for people with tattoos.
Chicago-based app, Tat Chat, is coming to an iPhone/Android near you. They recently launched a Kickstarter campaign to help connect the over-45 million people in the U.S. who have tattoos.
There’s a joke in here somewhere about regrettable tattoos and regrettable online dating but I’ll leave it alone.
Tat Chat is like Tinder in that users can scroll through profiles on their phones and if both parties like what they see, they become a match. That means they can message each other privately and start the convo. Instead of swiping left or right, however, users click “yup” if they’re into someone.
Aside from working in a similar way as Tinder, Tat Chat will also serve as a platform for the most popular tattoos in the app. People with a ton of “yups” are highlighted on the site so everyone can have a gander at their glorious tats, find inspiration and stay in the know about ink that’s gaining loads of praise.
According to an article on ChicagoInno, the goal isn’t just to make romantic matches, but to create a “living encyclopedia of body art tattoo pieces.”
So there’s the twist: Tat Chat isn’t just for dating. Users can even post anonymously without indicating their gender, name, age, or location. It’s all about the tat, baby.
Oh and if you don’t have a tattoo, you are welcome on Tat Chat—apparently non-tattoo’d users can post on a Tat Wall about the ink they want to get and gather valuable advice from the Tat Chat community.
Tat Chat plans to launch for iOs in August, Android in November, and your lower hip whenever you want. (Sorry. Couldn’t resist.)
