Tina Fey urged people to stay home, ignore neo-Nazis, and eat cake
When we find ourselves in times of trouble, Mother Tina comes to us, speaking words of wisdom: “Let them eat cake.” Our long-time favorite person, Tina Fey, urged people to stay home and eat cake rather than go out and protest against neo-Nazis. Before you say, “Wait a sec, how will that help our country?” hear her out.
"You see? It's working already. Sheet-caking is a grassroots movement," Fey explained after learning some of this weekend's upcoming alt-right rallies have been cancelled. She continued, "Most of the women I know have been doing it once a week since the election."
What’s sheet-caking, you ask? It’s basically just eating your emotions, and wow does it look freeing.
While explaining her “grassroots movement,” Fey, an alum of the University of Virginia, gave us a lot of fire to fuel our stress-eating with. For example, she said when the “white boys in polo shirts scream about taking back our country” and we want to yell back to them,
"It's not our country. We stole it from the Native Americans, and when they have a peaceful protest at Standing Rock, we shoot at them with rubber bullets, but we let you chinless turds march through the streets with semi-automatic weapons,"
“Don’t yell it at the Klan,” Fey says. “Yell it into the cake.”
“And also, who drove the car into the crowd? Hillary’s emails?” Fey questioned between mouthfuls of cake. She also reminded us that some of the people protesting in Charlottesville weren’t Klansmen — they were just some of the 250 independent well-armed American militias.
However, not everyone thought this skit was funny.

Many thought this was the wrong message to be sending. Some mentioned ignoring white supremacists is how Trump was elected in the first place. false
And some brought up the idea that the message to sit back and eat cake is rooted and privilege that many can’t afford. false
All valid points. The skit is worth a watch, and ultimately — stay safe and alert. Educate yourself. Donate to the causes that need it the most.
