Tina Fey has two big announcements, and one of them involves the “Mean Girls” musical
Since we’re big fans of both her and her projects, we’re ecstatic about this news. Tina Fey said that Mean Girls will hit Broadway sooner than we envisioned, and we know it’s going to be a huge hit.
The film, which was released in 2004 (yes — 13 years ago) was big for stars Lindsay Lohan and Rachel McAdams. While they sadly won’t be revisiting their roles for the stage show, Fey happened to find some pretty incredible substitutes — Erika Henningsen playing the role of Cady Heron, and Taylor Louderman as Regina George.
While the show will premiere at the National Theatre in Washington D.C., it was just a guess that it’d end up on Broadway after that. But with this video, Fey made it official.
Plus, she announces something else that’s pretty cool.

(Okay, so maybe we’re not as impressed by the GPS. We just assumed Fey already had one. But hey — we’re just happy that Fey is getting with the times.)
The show will be running in D.C. for just five weeks before hitting the August Wilson Theatre in 2018. Previews are set to start on March 12, and the show is looking at April 8th as an official opening day. Tickets go on sale this October.
The official poster for the Mean Girls show was also revealed on Twitter — and while it slightly resembles the movie poster, we can’t help but notice that it excludes Cady.

Still, we do like the fact that it’s focused on the original mean girls of North Shore High School. And also, we dig the fact that it’s very, very pink. Chances are that this poster was created on a Wednesday.
