Tina Fey and Amy Poehler gave Jimmy Fallon advice for hosting the Golden Globes, and they are oh so wise
We were so bummed when we heard that our favorite celebrities besties weren’t spontaneously hosting the Golden Globes again this year. But luckily, their latest replacement is still quite funny. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler gave Jimmy Fallon advice for hosting the show, which will air this Sunday, and we’re so glad that these Saturday Night Live alums are still so tight after all these years.
Fallon also reached out to 2016 host Ricky Gervais, who has also hosted the show multiple times — and created a lot of fun controversy in the process.
What can you say? The Golden Globes has turned into a must-watch event based on Fallon’s predecessors, so it makes sense that he’s a little nervous.
"They’re all super nice," Fallon said of the past hosts, when asked by People. "They basically said, ‘Dude, you’re doing it five nights a week, you’re hosting a show. I think you know how hosting works.’"
I’m just looking forward to seeing everyone dressed up and smiling and everyone looks better when they’re smiling, so it’s going to be a fun night," he continued.

In a sneak peek of the show, Fallon admitted that he used to “practice” for the Golden Globes at home with his parents.
"My mom would get dressed up and she would give fake speeches. Acceptance speeches. She was really into it," Fallon said with a laugh.
During an interview with Matt Lauer, Fallon mentioned that it’d be tough to poke fun at the celebrities when he’s probably going to book them for The Tonight Show in upcoming weeks. (Also, Fallon is notorious for being one of the nicest celebs around, so — it’s extra tricky.)

He joked that his juiciest target will be “classified,” so you’ll have to tune in to see for yourself. This year, the show will be airing on Sunday, January 8th, on NBC.
