Stop everything: Timothée Chalamet shared the first BTS pic from the Little Women set
The first photo from the set of Greta Gerwig’s Little Women has arrived, and despite being a little blurry, it’s our new everything. The upcoming period piece is a full-on Lady Bird reunion, with Gerwig, Saoirse Ronan (who played the titular role in the 2017 coming-of-age film), and Timothée Chalamet. And now, Chalamet has blessed our Instagram feeds with a photo from set featuring Ronan and Gerwig.
Alongside the shot, posted on October 20th, the Call Me By Your Name star revealed the photo was taken during rehearsal a few weeks ago.
At the premiere of his newest film Beautiful Boy earlier this month, Chalamet revealed that filming for Little Women was underway in Massachusetts, and added that he had jumped at the chance to work with Gerwig again. “I would do anything Greta wanted me to be a part of,” Chalamet told Variety. (This works for us.)
The classic 1868 novel follows March sisters Amy, Jo, Meg, and Beth as they come of age in Civil War-era Massachusetts. However, Gerwig’s adaptation is slated to be a fresher take on the story, with the LA Times reporting that the film will focus on the sisters as young adults, set after Amy, Jo, and Meg leave home.
In addition to the Lady Bird costars, the star-studded cast includes Emma Watson, Eliza Scanlen, Florence Pugh, James Norton, Bob Odenkirk, Chris Cooper, Laura Dern, and Meryl Streep.
The classic story has been adapted a number of times before, most notably the widely-beloved 1994 film that also featured a star-studded cast, including Winona Ryder, Christian Bale, Kirsten Dunst, Claire Danes, and Susan Sarandon. Most recently, PBS adapted the novel into a three-part miniseries, which aired late last year.
Gerwig’s Little Women is currently set to be released in December 2019, and suffice to say, we’ll be bumping to L’Enfance Nue and counting down the days.
