Your favorite internet boyfriend Timothée Chalamet is up to no good in the Hot Summer Nights trailer
Listen up, Timmy stans: The trailer for Hot Summer Nights has officially dropped, and it is hella tight. Fresh off his breakout year in both Call Me By Your Name — which earned him his first Academy Award nomination — and Lady Bird, Timothée Chalamet is showing no signs of slowing down. Following a whirlwind awards season, Lil Timmy Tim is back with a wild new coming-of-age indie.
In the newly released Hot Summer Nights trailer, Timothée Chalamet stars as Daniel, a dorky high school student spending the summer with “Auntie Barb” on Cape Cod in the early ’90s.
But while he may be rocking colorful, slightly too big polos à la Elio, that’s where the similarities between the two characters come to an end. Daniel is very much struggling to fit in when small-time weed dealer Hunter (Alex Roe) bursts into the general store Daniel works at and asks him to hide some weed before a cop busts him. A friendship develops between the two, and soon, Daniel becomes Hunter’s dealing partner in crime.
Naturally, Daniel has ideas on how to expand the business, and like Icarus, he and Hunter seem to fly a *little* too close to the sun. As Daniel and Hunter try to take their business to the big leagues, they start crossing paths with some pretty interesting figures in the Cape Cod drug scene and based on the trailer, they quickly get in over their heads in a big way.

This looks completely bonkers and we are so in. But we have to say, this looks exactly like the type of experience Kyle Scheible would partake in as a “social experiment” and later use as inspiration for a melancholy L’Enfance Nue song.
Hot Summer Nights also stars Thomas Jane, Maia Mitchell, Maika Monroe, and Emory Cohen, and is set to debut on July 27th.
