If you thought tweed skirt suits were for grandmas, allow Kate Middleton to prove you wrong

If you have an elegant, church-going, or otherwise fashionable grandmother in your life, you’ve likely seen her in a tidy tweed skirt suit. Now, style icon Kate Middleton has worn one, too, proving that women well under age 70 can make this look werk.

Paying a visit to East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices in Quidenham, Norwich this week — where she is a patron — the duchess donned a kelly green pencil skirt and matching peplum jacket from London retailer Hobbs, pairing the suit with a collared blouse by Gerard Darel. The suit — reflecting the Pantone Color of the Year for 2017, “Greenery” — radiated cheer and perfectly suited the occasion.

According to a report in The Telegraph, the total cost of Kate’s suit was around $377 — not bad for well-constructed workwear. Unfortunately, the suit was released as part of Hobbs’ 2015 collection, and has long since sold out.

“The skirt and jacket are from a past season and came out in late August 2015,” a Hobbs rep told The Telegraph. “[They] would have sold out in the autumn/winter 2015 sale.”

The blouse is sold out, too, but you can visit the designer’s website to add your name to an email alert list and be notified when the shirt is back in stock.

Kate wasn’t just stopping by the hospice to say hello and brighten up the children’s day (though we’re sure that happened, too!) she was there to raise awareness about The Nook Appeal, a fundraising initiative that aims to collect £10 million to build a new, larger hospice as East Anglia’s has outgrown its current space. Kate helped launch the initiative in 2014 and it has so far raised almost £5 million.
