This pregnant server got a $900 tip, which is exactly what we needed to hear today
Every once in a while we hear a story about giving during the holidays that warms our hearts, and here’s one that will probably give you the goosies, as Jennifer Lopez would say. Sarah Clark is a bartender and server at Pita Jungle in Norterra, Arizona. She’s 29 years old and pregnant with her first child. She’s due on January 8th, and she’s working as much as she can before her due date to save up some money, since her fiancé has to have leg surgery this week, and neither of them will be able to work for a little while.
Sarah was going about her shift like any other day. She took a takeout order from a woman, who also happens to also be pregnant, and her mom. Sarah and this woman, who will remain anonymous, had chatted a few times before about their pregnancies, so they had somewhat of a rapport. But the kindness she was about to extend to Sarah was something she never would have expected.
When Sarah went to pick up the final receipt, she saw that the mystery woman had tipped $900 on a bill that was $61.30. On the receipt was a handwritten note: “This is God’s money — He gave it to us so we could give it to you. God bless.”
"It took a while for it to set in, and once it did I cried for a little while," Sarah said.
In case you’re not so great at math, that’s a 1,468 percent tip. Wow. Sarah was shocked and moved by the act of generosity. “I couldn’t believe what I was looking at at first because it was such a high amount. $900 is a lot of money,” she told AZ Family.
“I don’t know if she really understands how much this is going to help us this season,” Sarah says. After seven years of working at Pita Jungle, this is definitely the highlight of her time there, and it’s a moment that will certainly brighten up her holiday season.
