This rescue cat earned herself a very important job at a nursing home
What happens when a stray cat wanders into a nursing home? She ends up with a new home and a very important job comforting residents, that’s what.
The Huffington Post reports that Oreo a hero cat, showed up randomly at the St. Augustine Health Ministries in Cleveland, OH about five years ago.
She ended up making such an impression that she now resides permanently on the main floor, gladly giving cuddles and comfort to nursing home residents, many of whom suffered from strokes or are no longer able to care for pets of their own.
"She's like our family here. She helps the residents, she helps the employees, and we just love her," said receptionist Carmen Delgado.
According to Dana Carns, who works as Director of Advancement at the facility, Oreo’s job matters because she gives residents something to look forward to and care about.

"I'm not sure if Oreo was in need of us, or we were in need of Oreo," Carns said. "But she's a great addition to our family."
Excuse us. Our hearts just swelled up to the size of great, big balloons.
