This magical-looking unicorn cake will inspire you to bake your own birthday dessert
OK, we know the whole magical unicorn thing is almost a tad out of control. People are making unicorn everything. But this unicorn cake is quite possibly the most delicious and fun-looking unicorn-themed food we’ve seen yet. And we’ve seen a lot of unicorn stuff.
The cake, created by Delish, actually looks pretty simple to make. It’s a poke cake — which just means that after you bake it you poke holes in it to fill with a filling. This one begins with a very simple vanilla box cake, which you make and then divide into three bowls. Then, you use food coloring to dye one bowl pink, one green, and one purple.
Instead of swirling the batter together, just layer each color batter on top of each other to get the unicorn effect. Once you pull it out of the oven, poke a bunch of holes in the cake and then drizzle sweetened condensed milk on top. This will make it super sugary and moist, which is a godsend if you tend to overcook your cakes. Hey, we can’t all be pro bakers.
Add a little pink frosting — this one is made with marshmallows — and funfetti the heck out of it, and you’re done. Happy Every Day to you. The only problem we see with this cake is that it’s probably as addictive as it is absolutely adorable.
