We’re going to learn a LOT more about the Pearson family’s past on Season 2 of “This is Us”
It appears we’re going to learn a lot more about the Pearson family’s backstory on This Is Us, because a number of the kids on the drama will be featured more prominently in Season 2.
Warning: Some This Is Us spoilers lie ahead!
Okay, so here’s the deal:
Hannah Zeile (teenage Kate), Niles Fitch (teenage Randall), and Logan Shroyer (teenage Kevin) are now full-time cast members, as are Mackenzie Hancsicsak (young Kate) and Parker Bates (young Kevin). Lonnie Chavis (young Randall), meanwhile, isn’t being upped to series regular — but fear not. He’ll still be on the show (and will continue to make you weep), but can’t take the title due to his commitment to Showtime’s White Famous.
So, it seems fair to assume that we’ll learn more about The Big Three — Kate (Chrissy Metz), Randall (Sterling K. Brown), and Kevin (Justin Hartley) — in their younger years!
And, in effect, their parents: Jack (Milo Ventimiglia) and Rebecca (Mandy Moore).
The actors behind Randall’s two daughters — Faithe Herman (Annie) and Eris Baker (Tess) — are also series regulars now, so we expect we’ll see a bit more about how the death of Randall’s biological father, William (Ron Cephas Jones), impacted them. They seemed to be in good spirits at his memorial, though, so we’re hoping we find them in a good place.
The young actors’ promotion follows the news that we’ll be seeing a lot more of Miguel (Jon Huertas) and Sophie (Alexandra Breckenridge) on the show. All things considered, we think there’ll just be that much more drama to dig into on Season 2 of This Is Us, and we can’t wait to watch.
