We have the best “This Is Us” news
This Is Us usually makes us sob like babies, but today, there’s some good news. Miguel and Sophie will soon appear more prominently on the show!
The actors behind those roles, Jon Huertas and Alexandra Breckenridge, have been promoted to series regulars for Season 2.
Recently, Mandy Moore admitted that she has no idea how the backstory behind Miguel and Rebecca’s (Moore) relationship will play out. So we’re hoping we may find out what happened there — and more about his friendship with BFF Jack (Milo Ventimiglia), Rebecca’s late husband — sooner rather than later now that Huertas is taking on a bigger part. He appeared in 11 episodes in Season 1.
Breckenridge, meanwhile, guest-starred in five episodes in Season 1. She plays Sophie, Kevin’s New York-based ex-wife. Sophie started reconciling with Kevin, who reluctantly took off for Los Angeles to work on a film in the Season 1 finale. Things with the couple’s relationship were totally up in the air when he left, but Sophie being upgraded to a series regular suggests she’ll at least be around.
The way we see it: This means there’s so much more drama to explore on both fronts.
Season 2 of This Is Us premieres in September on NBC, so we’ll have to wait to see how Miguel and Sophie’s stories play out. But, we’re excited that both of these characters have a lot more story left in them!
