This family is looking for a nanny who’s okay with living in a haunted house
If you’re good with kids, getting a job as a live-in nanny can be more than ideal. But what happens if you’re a nanny for a family who lives in a haunted house? Well, that’s another story.
The good news is that this family from Scotland — who live in the house in question — were totally open about the possibility of encountering ghosts in their latest job posting. Listed on childcare.co.uk, their ad states that they’ve been through five nannies before. Unfortunately, the nannies quit due to supernatural events, like furniture moving by itself.
Everything else about the ad seems totally normal. The family has two children, ages five and seven, and their house, while haunted, has quite the view.
"Duties would include preparing breakfast, getting the children ready for school, dropping off and picking up from school and assisting after school, including helping with homework and getting them ready for bed," the ad starts.
The “haunted house” factor is mentioned at the very end. And while the family has never spotted an incident with their own eyes, they definitely trust the ladies who were too spooked to continue working there.
"[Five] nannies have left the role in the last year, each citing supernatural incidents as the reason, including strange noises, broken glass and furniture moving," the ad said. "This has obviously been a period of great upheaval for our children. We haven't personally experienced any supernatural happenings, as they have been reported only while we've been out of the house, but we're happy to pay above the asking rate, and feel it's important to be as up-front as possible to find the right person."
They’re right about the asking rate. The nanny will get £50,000 annually — which is a little over $63,000 — and 28 vacation days, plus bank holidays off.
That said, it’s no surprise that over 2,000 people have applied for the job. Fingers crossed that at least one of them knows how to bust ghosts.
