On Saturday, April 28th, comedian Michelle Wolf hosted the 2018 White House Correspondents’ Dinner. Those familiar with her already knew that Michelle Wolf would make the perfect WHCD host. And those not familiar with Michelle Wolf certainly know her name now. The WHCD comedian made waves with jokes about Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Kellyanne Conway, and Ivanka Trump. She also used her platform to remind everyone that Flint still doesn’t have clean water.

As you probably remember, the White House Correspondents’ Dinner has become a somewhat contentious topic over the past couple years. Last year, as a way of boycotting the Trump Administration, Samantha Bee hosted a Not the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. Unsurprisingly, President Donald Trump did not attend Bee’s star-studded event. Nor did he attend the regular White House Correspondents’ Dinner, which Hasan Minhaj hosted.

Trump’s absence at last year’s dinner, which people often call “nerd prom,” marked the first time a president missed the event since 1981, when Ronald Reagan was hospitalized and physically unable to attend, according to the New Yorker. Unsurprisingly, he also did not attend this year’s dinner.

1You’ve probably seen her before on late night TV and The Daily Show.

Wolf is a correspondent for Trevor Noah’s The Daily Show, and she’s used to verbally ripping the U.S. government to shreds. For instance, when she talked about the many hoops members of Congress must go through when reporting sexual harassment complaints. Wolf broke it down in a hilarious — yet compelling — manner.

Before joining The Daily Show, Wolf wrote for Late Night with Seth Meyers, on which she frequently appeared as a hilarious imagining of the grown-up Orphan Annie.

2She’s getting her own Netflix show later this year.

In mid-February, Deadline announced that Wolf will host her own late-night Netflix show. Each week, she will host a half-hour show that sounds like it might be unlike any other late night show, well, ever. “You can expect the types of jokes my former bosses would tell me we couldn’t do on TV,” Wolf told Deadline.

We can’t wait to see the likely expletive-heavy shenanigans that take place on her show, which will air later in 2018.

3She has an HBO special.

The comedy special, titled “Nice Lady,” premiered in December of 2017. In it, Wolf articulated her sharp opinions of everything from mansplaining to dating rituals. Even when she’s not dissing political figures like she does on the Daily Show, the special proves that Wolf is always acerbic, no matter the subject.

4She used to be a Wolf of Wall Street.

And not just because of her last name. According to ABC News, Wolf started her career by working for major banks like JP Morgan Chase. Perhaps that experience helped prepare her to rise to the top of the male-dominated late night comedy scene.

5She’s a hardcore runner.

If you follow Wolf on Instagram — which you should — you’ll quickly learn that Wolf chronicles her runs as she tours around the country to perform comedy. According to Refinery29, Wolf has said she would be an exercise physiologist if not a comedian. Impressive! But oh, we shudder at the thought of a comedy scene without Michelle Wolf.

6She will be the 5th woman to host the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.

Over 104 years of WHCDs, only four other women have hosted the event. The others on the list include Cecily Strong in 2015, Wanda Sykes in 2009, Elayne Boosler in 1993, and Paula Poundstone in 1992, ABC News reports.
