These “purrmaid” necklaces combine our love of cats and mermaids, and we need one now

We love a good Etsy find — especially if it’s something adorable. And these customizable “Purrmaid” necklaces are definitely adorable. What is a “purrmaid,” you may ask? It’s exactly what it sounds like — a cat and mermaid combo.

The necklaces are available from GirlAndHerCat — also known as Sarah Boyd — who creates her crafts from Warrensburg, Missouri. There’s currently a bit of a waiting list for them, since everyone wants one.

In an interview with Mashable, Boyd explained how things took off.

"Since March 18, 2017, I'd say I've made about 60-70 purrmaids including custom orders I've completed," Boyd said. "I still have around 20-30 custom orders to still be completed."

Boyd has no problem making the pieces look as close to a customer’s cat as possible, and that’s because she understands the bond that humans and cats often have. (If you haven’t figured it out, she’s a cat lover herself.)

"I love my cat, and there's no shame in having 40 pictures of your cat in your phone," she said.

The pendants are so popular that creating them has become Boyd’s full time job.

Each purrmaid takes, on average, between 3 to 5 hours to create, and they’re currently retailing for $30.

Of course, she doesn’t focus solely on cats.

"I've done unipandamaids which is a unicorn/panda/mermaid and people loved it! So I will be focusing on those in my next update this coming week, as well as a pugmaid I'm working on," Boyd said.

We want them all, so we might as well add our names to that growing wait list.
