These behind-the-scenes photos from the pre-Met Gala party are giving us major FOMO

Everyone knows about ~the first Monday in May~ aka the Met Gala, but the last Saturday in April is basically a pre-game for the big event. A very fashionable pre-game, that is. Last night, Vogue‘s creative digital director, Sally Singer, hosted the pre-Met Gala #LastSaturdayInApril party at the 6BC Botanical Garden in New York — a “Midsummer Night’s Anime”-themed event — and the guests’ outfits were just as spectacular as you’d imagine.

Designers like Alexa Chung and Irene Neuwirth were in attendance, and as with the Met Gala, they mingled with supermodels such as Slick Woods and Ruby Aldridge. Everyone looked like they’d stepped out of Tokyo’s Harajuku district and into the Garden of Eden, and we’re wishing we’d been invited to the most fashionable party of the year (that is, until Monday’s big event).

Here’s what the scene looked like:

Can you believe this viridescent oasis is in New York City?!

Slick Woods opened up her own bottle of (Vogue) champagne.

Ruby Aldridge was working it, naturally.

She looks like a garden nymph from a magical fantasy land.

And here she is with fellow models Fernanda Ly and Paloma Elsesser.

Dressed to the NINES.

Alexa Chung looked like a mystical garden fairy herself.

That eyelet dress tho.

There were some amazing hair colors, too.

We’re obsessed with Vogue.com’s fashion director Chioma Nnadi (wearing purple) and Vogue‘s culture editor Alessandra Codinha (in pink).

And creative hairstyles as well.

Loving this look.

It really looked like people stepped out of an anime movie.

Can we all dress like this every day?

We would’ve loved to have been there to experience a “Midsummer Night’s Anime,” but we get it, our invitation got lost in the mail. It happens.
