These Alan Thicke tributes from his family will make you tear up, and we’re sending them all the love

Last night, we got shocking news — in fact, many of us believed it was a hoax when it was first revealed. Unfortunately, actor Alan Thicke passed away yesterday, at the age of 69. After feeling chest pain while playing hockey with his son, Carter, Thicke reportedly suffered from a heart attack.

The news is devastating for many reasons — while many of us grew up watching Growing Pains, where Thicke played Dr. Jason Seaver, fans just saw the actor looking well on recent episodes of This Is Us and Fuller House. And of course, 69 just seems so young.

The day must have been especially hard for Carter, who was there during yesterday’s roughest and most pressing times. After Thicke’s death was announced, he took to Twitter to give a well-deserved tribute to his late father — and it’s incredibly touching.

Carter is Thicke’s youngest son — he was also the father to Brennan and Robin, the latter famous for the 2013 summer hit “Blurred Lines.”

Thicke’s wife, Tanya, posted a photo of her and her late husband just two days before Thicke’s tragic passing.

And while Robin has stayed relatively quiet on Twitter, he did post a statement on Instagram.

He also gave a few kind words about his father to the Los Angeles Times:

"The good thing was that he was beloved and he had closure," he said. "I saw him a few days ago and told him how much I loved and respected him."

Alan Thicke was definitely such an important part of the entertainment industry, and he will be missed. We wish the best to his family during this time, and hope they get plenty of opportunities to honor Thicke’s memory together.
