There’s an iPhone accessory that lets you kiss someone over long distance so the future is most definitely here

Long distance love is HARD, but technology has definitely made it easier in the past few years. You can now FaceTime, Skype, SnapChat, and text to stay as close as ever. , and good-old-fashioned call your lover, it’s almost like you’re together! Except not, because if you can’t share a passionate kiss in the pouring rain is there even a point to being in a relationship? Not sure on that one, but there’s hope yet! It’s 2017 and now you can simulate kisses through your phone with a new iPhone accessory.

It’s almost as if Soulja Boy “Tell’em “predicted the future when he sang “Kiss Me Thru The Phone.” Called the “World’s first mobile kiss messenger,” the Kissenger (not to be confused with Nixon’s Secretary of State, Henry Kissinger) will transmit a kissing sensation over the internet. According to the Imagineering Lab at City University London:

Kissenger can sense your kiss and transmit realistic kissing sensations to your partner in real time. You can also feel the force on your lips when your partner kisses you back.

Sounds… Romantic?

The app doesn’t transmit generic kissing sensations though, it actually uses “high precision force sensors” to measure the pressure you place on each part of your lips so that the kiss your recipient feels is actually yours on their silicon ‘lips.’ This isn’t just a one-way street though, because you can then feel your partner’s simulated kiss on your phone accessory. You can even send Grandma a kiss on her cheek as long as she’s holding the phone up to it, how sweet is that?

The creators of the accessory have made an iOS prototype called the Kissenger app, and the silicon ‘lips’ plug in to the phone’s headphone jack (sorry iPhone 7 users, no kisses for you). And if you were hoping to french kiss someone, sorry but these sensors only work on lips. Feel free to give a PG peck to someone in France of course though!
