The internet has a cunning theory about why Kylie Jenner chose the name Stormi

After months of us not even knowing for sure if she was pregnant, Kylie Jenner announced that she had given birth to a baby girl on February 1st. Shortly after, she revealed that the baby was named Stormi Webster (Webster being Travis Scott’s actual last name).
Prior to the big name reveal, there were a ton of fan theories about what Jenner would decide to name the baby, many of which focussed on butterflies — thanks to a number of cryptic Instagram posts.
Unlike the pregnancy, Jenner’s focus on butterflies hasn’t been a big secret. Months ago, Jenner posted a photo of her hand on Instagram covered with gorgeous pink butterfly rings. Scott and Jenner also got matching tattoos featuring butterflies that were posted back in June. Based on Stormi’s arrival date, it’s safe to say that Jenner knew she was pregnant at that point, or at the very least, would find out very soon.
So you’re probably wondering how “Stormi” relates to “butterfly” in the slightest/where the heck we’re going with this.
Okay, here it goes: Some fans are convinced Jenner and Scott weren’t referencing actual butterflies, but rather the Butterfly Effect. In case you don’t know, it’s the theory that one seemingly inconsequential event can lead to a huge, unintended consequence somewhere else via a ripple effect. The most common example used is that a butterfly flapping its wings in one location can cause a full tornado somewhere else.
Tornadoes…as in storms…and perhaps as in Stormi?
Again, it’s only a theory, but it’s pretty cool if it is, in fact, how Jenner dreamed up the moniker. And some fans are already convinced. false
“Stormi” is short for Storm. A storm can be caused by a minute localized change in a complex system. That’s known as the butterfly effect. Butterfly in Spanish is Mariposa…

Theory… Kylie named her baby Stormi because of the butterfly effect… the beat of a butterfly’s wings can set off a storm miles away 👶🏼 🦋 #Stormi #KylieJenner

Also, Scott has a song called “Butterfly Effect,” which means the concept likely holds significance for the couple.
