We are TOTALLY DOWN for a ‘Thelma and Louise’ reunion

The kick-ass, game-changing movie Thelma and Louise turns 25 this year, and to celebrate, leading ladies, Geena Davis and Susan Sarandon, are thinking big. They’re still hammering out the details, but according to the Associated Press, they’re likely planning either a “live show or a tour.” Please let it be both!

Davis, a long-time activist and champion of women in the film industry, told the AP they’re still figuring out “what’s possible” but says “people seem to like the idea.” More like, LOVE.

We heart this duo because Thelma and Louise are powerful female characters who pass the Bechdel Test with flying colors—something you don’t see every day in Hollywood.

Davis tells the AP, “There certainly are still great roles that come along that we see women in, but we’re not seeing a wealth of female characters and we’re not seeing films that are populated by women.” Preach, girl.

How awesome would it be if Geena Davis and Susan Sarandon recreated their road trip across the US? After all, they’re still close friends IRL. Here’s hoping we get the chance to celebrate this timeless movie and these two characters IN ANY CAPACITY. But let’s just say a T&L cross-country road trip tour would be awesome, as long as they drive, um, safely this time around.
