“The Walking Dead” star Lauren Cohan opens up about how she got through being bullied as a child

Even zombies get bullied!
The Walking Dead star, Lauren Cohan just opened up about being bullied as a kid, which is hard to believe based on how fierce and fabulous she is, but it’s true.
The 34-year-old American British actress is the cover star of Health’s December issue, which hits newsstands on Friday, and in it the star opens up about her childhood and the fact that she was bullied for being too thin, which is her natural body type.
"I was very skinny," Cohan told Health. "You know when your knees don't even look like they're attached to your body? Kids at school called me 'Snap,' like my legs were about to snap because they were so thin."

"I was so gangly, even sneakers looked awkward. Everybody kind of goes through some phase, and it's hard if you're singled out for anything," she continued. "But there was this one boy in particular who made fun of me and, it’s funny, then later, when we were 18 or 19, he wanted to go out with me."
Cohan also revealed that although she got through being bullied for her body, she does sometimes feel pressure in her line of work to stay thin and look perfect. In order to keep those pressures at bay, she focuses on positive energy and herself.
"One thing I always think about is, at the end of the day, nobody really cares about you as much as they do about themselves," she told the publication. "It's a very reassuring thing, in a good way. Pay attention to yourself, and use that energy and put it towards yourself."

"Somebody said to me the other day, 'If this moment isn't the best moment of your life, you're doing something wrong,'" she added. "And I think about that all the time. Because me not liking where I'm at is such a waste of energy. And being able to be there for others is only coming from self-acceptance."
“You have to do what makes you feel good, but for me it has to come from that spiritual side first,” Cohan concluded.
No wonder Cohan is able to play such a badass on The Walking Dead, she uses her real-life positive outlook on life and strong girl-power vibes to play Maggie Greene and it’s awesome.
