‘The Walking Dead’ Is Back and Better Than Ever

The Walking Dead is an occasionally frustrating show, alternating between fast-paced action and tortuously slow “character building” storylines (looking at you, season two!). However, when it’s on, it’s ON, and that can certainly be said for the AMC series’ fourth mid-season premiere, which aired on Sunday night. It was all go from the opening moments, which pick up right were the last finale left off: the carnage of the epic battle between Rick’s crew and The Governor’s invaders.

Without a doubt, The Walking Dead is a gruesome show (we’ll spare the details here, but needless to say, Herschel’s decapitated head attempting to reanimate itself as a zombie is a visual that’s quite disturbing but incredibly effective), but it’s also so, so good. I’m not sure what it is that makes it so – the incredible make-up and costumes, the solid acting, the general badassery… it keeps you on your toes, and that’s really all we could hope for from our zombie apocalypses, right? Right.

Do you watch The Walking Dead? What did you think of the mid-season premiere and what do you hope to see happen throughout the rest of the season?
