The new “Game of Thrones” season might have feature-length episodes (please let this be true)
Winter is coming, and so are very long episodes of Game of Thrones. Maybe. At the Nashville Con of Thrones (yes, those exist) it was revealed that the Game of Thrones might have film-length episodes. Talk about a Fourth of July weekend miracle!
While we’re only gearing up for the 7th season of Game of Thrones, which is starting on July 16th, 2017 (SO SOON), we’ll have to wait for the feature-length episodes to occur in the final season of GoT, which might not even air until 2019.
If you’re annoyed by all of these “mights” and “maybes,” well, welcome to Game of Thrones fandom where the fan theories are almost more exciting than the actual show itself!
Yes, it’s a wild ride when you’re a GoT-er (Gamer of Thrones?)
For those who are wary of all the fan-formed theories about the Starks’ plight and Arya’s true identity, this episode-length news is different: It comes from someone behind the scenes of GoT. According to Vulture, Paula Fairfield, who’s a sound designer on the hit show, told Con of Thrones attendees that episodes “could be in the 80-plus-minute range of a feature film.”
So we’ll have plenty of time to watch The Hound drink his entire drink.
According to Fairfield, we’ll get a taste of the longer episodes with Season 7’s finale episode which lasts a record 82 minutes! Think of all the characters who can die and then come back to life in that amount of time.
Or, much worse but also more likely, think of how many of our favorite characters can be killed off in 82 minutes!
Okay, this is getting dark — but such is life as a Game of Thrones viewer. We can’t wait to see what Season 7 has in store.
