“The Mindy Project” cast shared behind-the-scenes photos celebrating the series finale, and we’re crying buckets of tears
Everybody else stayed up until midnight to stream The Mindy Project series finale the second it was released Monday night too, right? We don’t know about you, but we’re still openly weeping. Even if you haven’t been able to bring yourself to watch the last episode yet, we all need to come to terms with the fact that Dr. L, Morgan, Danny, Tamra, Jeremy, and the rest of the crew have sported their scrubs for the last time.
There is *one* thing getting us through the pain, though: The Mindy Project cast has been sharing tons of behind-the-scenes photos and memories on social media and we’re loving every second of it.
Blown away by all the love for the @TheMindyProject finale! It's the best job I've ever had and it's because of @mindykaling and her dedication and especially our amazingly wonderful fans. Eternally grateful😘 pic.twitter.com/CT25RwDN8O

From throwback photos of Mindy Kaling and Chris Messina (the one and only Danny Castellano) from the show’s first promo shoot to BTS shots from *small spoiler* Morgan and Tamra’s wedding in the series finale, the stuff being posted by the stars is making us appreciate just how great a show The Mindy Project was.
We’re also getting some fun insight into what was happening on set.
Kaling, for instance, shared on Twitter that costume designer Salvador Perez, executive producer Michael Spiller, and cinematographer Marco Fargnoli all helped her cover up her growing IRL baby bump throughout the last season (she was seven months pregnant during the last episode’s shoot!).
I shot the entire last season pregnant and @MrSalPerez hid it so well! As did Michael Spiller and our cinematographer, Marco Fargnoli. The finale I was almost 7 months along and it was a heat wave. See if you can tell…

We’re also fangirling out to see all the sweet messages the cast posted about their real-life friendships, and how much they loved creating the show for the past six years..
Back in September, the cast spoke during a panel about the show coming to an end and expressed how grateful they were to make a show for Hulu (the early seasons aired on Fox), a streaming platform that gave them a lot of creative freedom. They’d gotten to do everything they wanted to do with the show and it was time to wrap things up.
Even though we fans may disagree, we can sort of see where they’re coming from, we guess.
Plus, Kaling’s already got another Hulu rom-com in the works — a sure-to-be-fabulous TV reboot of Four Weddings and a Funeral — so at least there’s more Mindy to look forward to on the streaming platform!
But for now, we’re taking a moment to be emotional. Because we’re just loving all of these posts so much, especially Kaling summing her Mindy Project experience up on Twitter:
I shot the entire last season pregnant and @MrSalPerez hid it so well! As did Michael Spiller and our cinematographer, Marco Fargnoli. The finale I was almost 7 months along and it was a heat wave. See if you can tell…

We just want to say how grateful we are too. Now excuse us while we go sob some more.
