The ‘Macbeth’ movie looks spooky and amazing (also Michael Fassbender)
Chances are, you’ve likely read Shakespeare’s Macbeth. The playhas long been a staple in high school English classes, and even if you only skimmed it in 10th grade (you should totally go back and read it PS, it’s amazing) get ready to see and understand the story like you never have before. The Scottish Play all about ambition, murder, and madness has been adapted into a movie (that got rave reviews at Cannes,) and we now have a trailer that looks so spooky you may want to watch it with the lights on.
Macbeth follows the bloody rise of Macbeth, a Scottish general who is told by three witches that he will one day be king. He and his wife then conspire to kill the king on the throne to claim power for themselves, only to spiral into tyranny, guilt, and paranoia. It’s dark, intense, bloody, and brilliant.
This adaptation, which stars Michael Fassbender as Macbeth and Marion Cotillard as Lady Macbeth, looks like it will do the iconic story total justice. Gloomy, kind of frightening, and seriously gorgeous, it’s directed by Justin Kurzel and produced by the team behind The King’s Speech. Sadly, we don’t have a release date for the US yet, although it will hits theaters in the UK on October 2.
Check out the trailer below. We’re ready, and totally scared, but ready.
