The live-action “Aladdin” movie is holding an open casting call for the roles of Aladdin and Jasmine
Disney just did something really important. In a casting call for the live-action adaptation of Aladdin, Disney asked for Middle Eastern actors and actresses between the ages of 18 and 25 to audition for the roles of Aladdin and Jasmine, The Hollywood Reporter confirms.
The casting call says that auditioning actors must be able to sing, and that dancing skills are a plus. The movie, which will be directed by Guy Ritchie with a screenplay from Big Fish writer John August, will be shot from July 2017 to January 2018 in the U.K.
The best part? All you need to apply is a photo and a video of you singing. This feels appropriate for the movie, after all, this casting call is pretty much the Genie promising something life changing.

Even though 2018 feels like a million years away, we’re already counting the days until we get to see this film. The fact that it will probably be packed with new talent doesn’t hurt either. Until then, we’ll just keep ourselves busy asking the important questions, like, who will be doing the costumes? Who’s playing Abu?! Either way, we can’t wait to see who Disney chooses to play Aladdin and Jasmine. We’re ready to watch and sing our heart out.
