This legal analysis of ‘The Little Mermaid’ is blowing our minds

The Little Mermaid was my favorite Disney princess when I was a kid. I mean, come on, she was a princess mermaid who could talk to animals. I remember the first time I saw the movie. When Ursula tricked poor Ariel into that terrible contract, cried.

Well, one brave law student performed a legal analysis of Ariel’s contract with Ursula, and it seems Ariel should have really looked into outside legal advice.

Ariel’s new BFF Shon Faye told Buzzfeed that she went to law school and is qualified to practice contract law. And she always felt a special kinship with The Little Mermaid. false

Shon said, “Ariel was always my favorite Disney princess. I always strongly identified with her, probably because we’re both trans women. I mean, I’m just transgender, whereas I guess Ariel is trans-species, but you know, getting here wasn’t an easy ride for either of us!

It certainly was not! Consider all that Ariel had to go through to be with her one true love. It breaks our hearts. And great, now I’m weeping all over again.

Faye decided to break down the “legal inconsistencies” with Ariel and Ursula’s contract and the results are surprising. A close-up of Shon’s tweet brings these many inconsistencies to light:

Apparently, Ursula lied when she said the contract was “legal, binding, and completely unbreakable.”

Of course, the internet lost its mind when Shon Faye’s The Little Mermaid tweet went viral:

Some fans are suggesting that this would make an excellent courtroom drama

Disney, are you listening? Sounds like you have a sweet potential sequel on your hands! Now, will Sebastian be a witness for the defense? What about Flounder and Scuttle?
