The Harley Quinn creator shares his honest thoughts on Margot Robbie’s portrayal of the character

If The Creator himself says the job was well done, he must be right. Paul Dini, the creator of Harley Quinn, a former psychiatrist who turned to crime as The Joker’s sidekick and on-again/off-again girlfriend, was extremely pleased with Margot Robbie’s take on the character.

Apparently, she knocked it out of the park.

“I thought Margot did a really terrific job and I loved all the nods to her origin,” Dini said on the Shanlian On Batman podcast.

With over 20 years of comic book mastery under his belt, including work on He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, Tiny Toon Adventures, and of course, Batman: Mad Love, the originating story behind the Harley character, Dini knows his stuff.

“I felt she had a really good sense of humor about capturing the character and there are moments where you see her mind is always working. She really captured the kinetic energy of the character,” he continued.

We all know how excited Margot was for the role and how hard she worked on the character. We imagine she must feel pretty good about Dini’s response.

The juiciest tidbit of the interview though is Dini’s brief mention of the future he glimpsed in Margot’s performance: “If anything, it proved to me that the character has enough to support her own movie,” he said.

PLEASE, MOVIE GODS, PLEASE.
