The director of Taylor Swift’s “Look What You Made Me Do” music video has something to say about all those Beyoncé comparisons
Taylor Swift’s new song “Look What You Made Me Do” has a lot of people talking. Is there a secret meaning behind her Reputation choker? Will she successfully reclaim the snake emoji from Kim Kardashian? People are also making comparisons to Beyoncé — but not in a good way.
After Swift released a teaser for the “Look What You Made Me Do” music video, people were quick to call out its similarities to Bey’s “Formation” video.
Yesterday, “Look What You Made Me Do” video director Joseph Kahn spoke up about those Beyoncé comparisons.
Is all of this just a coincidence, or did Swift do it on purpose? Kahn took to Twitter to clarify that no similarities to Bey are intentional. false
Kahn also tweeted that there is more to the controversial shot than the one moment people are focusing on. false false

In the 30-second teaser trailer for “Look What You Made Me Do,” Swift wears an outfit similar to the one Bey wore when she sang “Formation” during the 2013 Super Bowl halftime show. It’s also similar to one in Bey’s “Sorry” video, where her and Serena Williams wear black leotards. People also pointed out that both videos include a shot of the singers standing in front of a group of men.
Despite Kahn’s explanations, people aren’t really buying it.

Did Swift and Kahn steal ideas from “Formation”? It’s hard to tell from just one quick shot, but we definitely see why people are making the claims. We’ll have to wait for the whole music video to see where the similarities begin and end. In the meantime, the speculation is going to keep flying.
