The choreographer of Kanye’s “Fade” video explains Teyana Taylor’s intense cat face
Where were you when you saw Teyana Taylor in Kanye West’s “Fade” video? If you’re like me, you were hunched over your laptop, completely captivated by her seductive dancing, and yes, her insanely fit body.
Like pretty much everyone else, the video drew me in from the start, but as I leaned closer to my laptop, out of nowhere, Taylor’s cat face appeared on the screen and scared the absolute crap out of me.
Seriously y’all, WTF was that about?! Like, never mind the fact that Taylor and her fiancé Iman Shumpert were surrounded by a flock of sheep. I couldn’t look her in the cat face long enough to come up with a reasonable explanation for what was happening. But thanks to Jae Blaze, who contributed to the choreography and artistic direction of the video, there’s an explanation for the Cat Face of My Nightmares.
Here’s how Blaze explained Taylor’s feline transformation to Pitchfork:
Um, OK.
It’s great to see the mainstream no longer sleeping on Taylor’s talent (srsly guys, where have you been?!) but I don’t know if I’ll ever get the cat face image out of my head.
