It’s not Thanksgiving without the ‘Thanksgiving Song,’ so here ya go

Contrary to SNL’s most recent skit about Adele’s “Hello” being the ultimate Thanksgiving song, Adam Sandler’s legendary, well, “Thanksgiving Song,” is still worth its weight in gravy.

Sandler first performed the tune during SNL’s Weekend Update on November 21, 1992. And, because singing about turkey in the summertime is legal, a live performance of the song was later recorded in Redondo Beach on July 25, 1993.

Believe it or not, Sandler wasn’t the only mastermind behind the ridiculous lyrics of the song. Both Robert Smigel and Ian Maxtone-Graham (who also co-wrote Sandler’s “Chanukah Song”) are also credited as songwriters.

Now, with all that in mind, let’s cuddle up with some mashed potatoes with a side of Sandler. Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
