Lena Dunham just casually started the “health goth” trend

Lena Dunham has always had a way with words. She’s the creator and writer behind the much-discussed show Girls and she’s written Not That Kind of Girl: A Young Woman Tells You What She’s “Learned,” which of course ended up on The New York Times Best Sellers list. Considering that Lena is undeniably a word poet, it makes sense that she’d create a phrase we now want to incorporate into our everyday lingo.

Here’s the image that started it all:

But seriously I tripped over my flip-flop,” wrote Lena, to explain the above snapshot. “Thank you to the amazing team at Lenox Hill who x-rayed me, determined it was just a stupid sprain and sent me back to work, intact but for my pride ? #healthgoth #flipflopsafetycourse #slingbitch.”

We love that Lena used #healthgoth to describe her situation because it’s a truly relatable phrase that can have many meanings. A health goth can be a hypochondriac. It can be someone who hates going to the doctor’s office. It can be someone who dons goth gear every time they have to visit a hospital or doctor. The possibilities are endless!

And in typical health goth fashion, Lena also made sure to post the aftermath of her hospital visit:

I do my own stunts, wrote Lena, captioning her “after” photo.

This one goes out to all the health goths out there. Because Lena Dunham understands you.
