This text conversation between a mom and daughter about tampons has gone viral

Arkansas mom Belinda Hankins recently sent her 13-year-old daughter into a pharmacy to buy tampons, but the store was so heavy with period shame that the essential products proved virtually impossible to find.

Luckily, Hankins’ household seems like a pretty feminist one, and the search for tampons resulted in one of the most hilarious, perfect and badass mother-daughter text conversations ever recorded and shared on the interwebz.

In the text exchange, which Hankins shared on Facebook this week (her messages are in yellow) the pair quip about the menstrual taboo, vaginas, laser estrogen beams and men’s fears of women.

Basically, they’re the real-life Rory and Lorelai Gilmore and they’re here the smash the patriarchy.

First, Hankins’ daughter enters the store and spends a full seven minutes searching for tampons.

Wait wait, I have to interrupt for a second. Did your mom ever say the words “condoms and sex lube” to you?! I didn’t think so. Belinda Hankins FTW! Carrying on…

This search went on forever.

Finally, the menstrual section of the store was located… where you’d least expect it. And that’s when things got hilarious.

That’s right, y’all. Belinda Hankins’ 13-year-old daughter drew a map on her phone while in the store to help her mother find the elusive “Vagina Zone.”

Belinda said on Facebook that the exchange was the “highlight of my parenting week.”

"I died, she gave me life, I died again. And she drew an illustration, on the spot, ON HER PHONE, to drive her point home."

Yeah, we’d say that’s a pretty good highlight.

Seriously, though — keeping periods a secret isn’t doing anyone any favors, so we raise a glass to all the parents, friends, families, educators and others who are being like Belinda and taking the shame out of menstruation.
